Airbnb cleaning checklist: a free template for every turnover
What a turnover clean must cover, room by room, a checklist you can copy or print for your cleaner, and how to have every check-out open its own cleaning.

In short
- A turnover is judged in the first minute: the smell, the bathroom and the bed. Start the checklist there.
- Write it for the person who cleans, not for yourself — short lines, one task each, in the order they walk through the flat.
- Check before you clean: anything broken, missing or left behind is photographed and reported before it is tidied away.
What it must contain
Kitchen
Dishes washed and put away, fridge emptied and wiped, hob, oven and microwave clean, bins emptied with new bags, coffee, salt and oil topped up.
Bathroom
Toilet, shower, sink and mirror clean and dry, the drain free of hair, fresh towels counted per guest, toilet paper and soap refilled.
Bedrooms
Fresh linen on every bed that will be slept in, mattress protectors checked, nothing under the beds or in the wardrobes, a spare blanket and hangers in place.
Living areas and floors
Surfaces dusted, remote controls and switches wiped, floors vacuumed and mopped, windows closed, the balcony or terrace swept.
Checks, not just cleaning
Every light and appliance works, the Wi-Fi is on, hot water runs, nothing is broken or missing, and anything the last guest left is bagged and noted.
Leaving the unit ready
Heating or air conditioning set, keys or the door code ready, welcome items out, one last look from the door — then the cleaning is marked done.

☐ Leaving: windows closed, temperature set to [degrees], keys or code ready, lights off.

Adapt it to your unit: add what only your place has — a pool, a fireplace, a baby cot — and take out what it does not.
The checklist, sent by the calendar

Questions
How long should a turnover clean take?
It depends on the size of the unit and who does the laundry. Time your own unit twice and plan the gap between check-out and check-in from what you measured — same-day turnovers need that number most.
Should the cleaner check for damage?
Yes, and first — before anything is moved. A photo taken on arrival, with the time, is what lets you raise a damage claim with the guest or the portal; after the cleaning it is only a memory.
Who supplies the linen and consumables?
Agree it in writing: whether the cleaner brings fresh linen or takes it from a store at the unit, and who buys soap, paper and coffee. Most disagreements with cleaners start with an unclear answer here.
Should guests be asked to clean before they leave?
Ask for little, and say it before they book: take out the rubbish and leave the dishes in the sink or the dishwasher. Cleaning is part of the price, and a long list of chores costs you reviews.
